Gerber Technology GmbH, München, Yvonne Heinen-Foudeh, Marketing and Communications Manager Europe, Middle East, Africa:
The IMB Forum has long been more than just IMB’s little sister. We believe in the event and clearly recognize the efforts on the part of Koelnmesse to achieve breakthrough in terms of the degree of international visitor participation with the current event on 21st and 22nd November 2007. The presence of decision-makers — at least from the neighbouring countries — is an essential step in the right direction. In the long term, however, we believe that this established Cologne platform for software and system solutions has excellent chances of achieving comprehensive internationalization — and doing so to the same extent as IMB. If anyone in the global trade fair business for systems and software solutions for our sector has what it takes to succeed in this aim, it’s Koelnmesse.
In this light, the IMB Forum is not considered a sales event for Gerber Technology. It’s much more a sector get-together. At the two previous events, 83% (2005) and 80% (2004) of the visitors to our stand were already users of Gerber software. They used the opportunity for a deeper exchange of views and to obtain an insight into the latest features of our programs for design, graduation, cutting layout creation and cutting layout optimization, the conceptual design and prototype production including 3 D visualization, all naturally without neglecting the broad field of product data management and fashion lifecycle management. The reason for such a high proportion of existing customers in the total number of visitors to the Gerber stand at previous IMB Forums is easy to recognize — our company has the dominant share of the market. Nonetheless, failure to participate in the Cologne-based software platform would represent an extremely foolhardy decision. Not, perhaps, from an immediately commercial point of view, but most certainly regarding our position as a service provider, both as we see ourselves and as Gerber Technology is active in the market.
Without question, the IMB Forum supporting programme provides a substantial additional boost to the event’s already strong positioning as a sector meeting place. That’s why we’re already looking forward to everything that will be on offer to us in Cologne in November.
