SIC Software Industrie Consult GmbH, Dortmund, Stephan Riepe, Managing Director:
Why is the IMB Forum 2007 important?
The IMB Forum is the year’s top event for the IT sector of the clothing industry. New and enhanced developments are presented, and the Forum is of outstanding importance as a place at which suppliers and users can exchange ideas.
Especially in our current situation, where we are facing sharp price falls and fierce competition, investments in the IT sector are crucial if the competitiveness of clothing companies is to be maintained or improved. An optimisation of internal and cross-company business processes would be unthinkable today without the increased use of the most up-to-date IT technologies in administration, product development and logistics.
The Forum is designed to show future-orientated companies that growth is frequently dependent on the implementation of new ideas. Companies require software that grows with their business, flexibly responds to changing requirements and adapts itself to the intensifying process of globalisation.
At the Forum, SIC will also present itself as a new partner of SAP. SIC has been an expert partner of SAP for the fashion sector since January 1, 2007. The two companies have formed this alliance in order to address the German clothing market in a comprehensive manner. With SAP All-in-One, SAP is offering a sector-specific ERP solution for medium-sized companies. According to its own statements, SAP is the world’s leading supplier of business software. SAP’s Apparel Footware Solution (AFS) is a standard solution for core business processes of the clothing and shoe industries. In addition, SIC will appear with a new name, SICSone, for marketing its own product range. The new name will send out a clear signal. After the complete revision of the software in the past year, and the development of new, future-oriented solutions, the degree of identification between the software and the company is being increased. The modular-structured new system offers future-oriented solutions for all business processes in the areas of ERP/merchandise management, PDM/PLM product data management, management information systems, e-business and mobile order management. For SIC’s customers, the name is changing, but with “SICSone” the focus on innovative orientation will definitely remain. Another of SIC’s focal points will be the presentation at the forum of the new “Collection outline plan” PDM module. This represents a further milestone in the development of product data management.
